A massive day celebrating the beautiful game of Finska arrives at the Clubhouse Moorooka in sunny Brisbane.
THE COMPETITION
This is your chance to be crowned the inaugural Queensland Finska Champion!
Whether you consider yourself one of the best players in the state, or simply the best player in your backyard, you’re welcome to sign up and join the battle for the QLD trophy. The competition is open to first-time players and pros alike, from all age groups. The only stipulation is that you have 2 people in a team.
- The Format: Up to 64 teams of two will face off in a tournament consisting of a pool stage and a knockout stage. You’ll play against every team in your allocated pool.
- The Playoffs: The most successful teams will proceed to the knockout stage to play off for the Queensland Championship trophy. The remaining teams will play on and compete for ‘The Plate’ in our equally honourable B-Tournament.
- All Skill Levels: The day is structured so that all teams, irrespective of skill level, get a full day of competitive Finska fun. New to wood-chucking? Finska is incredibly easy to learn, and newbies are warmly welcomed!
The inaugural champions could be anyone, from any corner of the country (or planet for that matter). The only certainty is they will have to conquer their nerves and steady their hands across a long day that is as much mental as it is physical. Who knows how the skittles will fall come this fateful Saturday in May!
There is a strict capacity of 64 teams, so it’s first-in, best-dressed for registration.
THE VIBE & SPORTSMANSHIP
The Open is all about coming together and basking in this incredible game. Celebrating the highs and lamenting the lows. Anti-social behaviour will not be tolerated. The Clubhouse Moorooka and AFSO reserve the right to disqualify and remove any player, team, or spectator not adhering to this tenet.
TROPHIES AND PRIZES
If you are an elite enough tosser to be crowned the inaugural Queensland Finska Champion, you will pick up the prestigious Open trophy, a very tidy winner’s cheque for $500, and some Planet Finska merchandise. The Runner-up and Plate Finalists won’t go home empty-handed either!

To add to the day’s festivities, The Clubhouse Moorooka will be serving up cold drinks and awesome meals from the onsite restaurant.
